Bag a bargain as the pound soars

Euro turmoil leaving wide choice for holidaymakers

The soaring value of the pound over the last 12 months has provided a major boost for British holidaymakers. People travelling to Europe in particular have benefited from more affordable holidays as sterling has risen against other currencies. According to research by the Post Office, holidaymakers get nearly 15 percent more for their money than a year ago and this has created a boom in travel.

Eastern European cities including Budapest and Prague are among the best value city break destinations and we have also seen sales soar to European beach destinations such as Mallorca and Turkey’s Dalmatian Coast.

Budapest is now our best value destination in Europe

Increased flights to the Greek islands this year has also contributed to tourists getting better value for money as increased competition has led to better availability. Mykonos, Santorini, Crete and Rhodes are just some of the destinations that have seen an increased direct air service. British Airways also announced a new twice weekly service to Bodrum to meet the demand for luxury holidays to Turkey which has been fuelled by the favourable exchange rate with the Turkish Lira.

It’s not just European destinations that are offering tremendous value for money. The exchange rate with the Australian Dollar is around 7% more favourable to UK travellers than it was 12 months ago, giving travellers more dollars in their pocket to spend on those all important Australian tours and excursions.

Wherever you decide to go this year, we have free nights and enormous savings on holidays worldwide so call a Travel Manager for the latest advice.

What’s Up? What’s Down?

Holiday scams up. India visa row blows over
Up Arrow

Holiday fraud soars at this time of year
Scams see a spike during the summer months with most relating to plane tickets being sold online, fake adverts for villas and accommodation and bogus websites. During the World Cup in Brazil many people paid for fake tickets and accommodation according to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau.

India shelves onerous visa policy
India has backed down on previously advertised changes to tourist visa rules. Vociferous feedback from tour operators means they have dropped plans to introduce biometric testing or requiring every applicant to attend a centre in person. Applications will be accepted by post. Kenya tourism hit by terror fears

My best holiday ever

His horse Monbeg Dude finished third in the recent Grand National, winning Mike Tindall £105,000. Not bad for a horse that cost him just £12000 at a boozy lunch auction! Here’s where he may be spending the money:

Best holiday ever
One of the best holidays was on the Greek island of Sifnos. It’s beautiful and you are pretty much guaranteed hot weather. It’s a secluded island popular with locals and really nice restaurants serving fresh fish from the sea.

Most relaxing destination
The Karma Kandara resort in Bali. The whole setup is designed to inspire relaxation. And I did very little during my stay. To relax on holiday I need a really good beach with a bar where they can mix a good cocktail.

Favourite hotel
The Four Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg. The staff really look after you and the rooms are great.

Favourite city
Sydney, because we have had a lot of wins there and Hong Kong which has good nightlife. I also like Auckland and Barcelona which has a nice vibe.

Best piece of travel advice
I’m always late to the airport and get rushed through security so maybe you should always be late for a quick passage through the airport. Mike Tindall

Former ABTA boss will only use DialAFlight!!

Quote You are the only travel agent I use - and if you Google my name you’ll see that I was at ABTA for 20 years - so I know a lot of travel agents.

I recently had a problem where having booked my flights with DialAFlight my tour operator started making significant changes to the ground arrangements which meant that I wanted to hold off committing to flights for a day or two.

Although my booking for flights had been made nine hours earlier, my travel manager Alan found a way to help me - and many travel agents would not have done that. I was able to get the tour operator to change its itinerary back to what had been advertised, and so I have now booked with you again.

Good service is hard to find, so I am very happy to recognise it.

Adrian is just amazing

Excellent Customer Service. Adrian is a diamond. We have just returned from a trip to New York. Adrian ensured that we got the best value flight - he went out of his way to do so. I will never book with anyone else again.

To think of the time I have wasted online looking for flights. I now have Adrian on speed dial for this.

I am so happy with the service, I have shared his contact details with all my Facebook and work colleagues. He is now helping us arrange our honeymoon - I know we are in capable hands. Well done and thank you.

Excellent Service!!

I was recommended by friends to contact Jensen at DialAFlight whilst trying to organise a trip to Las Vegas for a friend’s birthday celebration.

I am so glad we did, having spent hours trawling on the internet for flights and then trying to decide which hotel to stay in, I contacted Jensen who took all that in hand for me, coming up with flights and recommendation of a hotel that were perfect and most importantly within our price range.

The trip was a great success, the hotel being ideally located on the strip. A few weeks before the trip our flight schedule was changed by the airline, but Jensen came up with alternative flights for us which gave us extra time and actually turned out so much better!

I will definitely be contacting DialAFlight again for our future holidays and would not hesitate in recommending them.
