Intercontinental Resort & Spa Moorea

Intercontinental Resort & Spa Moorea 4 Star

from £270 per room night

Location

Set amid 27 acres of gardens, surrounded by mountains and lagoon, the Intercontinental Resort & Spa at Moorea has few rivals in terms of scenery. It’s located on lush Moorea, sister island to Tahiti. To get there, it’s 25km from Moorea Temae Airport, or, from Tahiti’s Faa’a Airport, it’s a 15-minute flight or a short taxi ride followed by a 30-minute trip by catamaran.

Rooms

The resort boasts 144 classic and executive rooms and suites, including overwater bungalows. The style is relaxed Polynesian, with features such as balcony/terrace, cable/satellite TV, wifi (charges may apply), phone, work desk, minibar, air conditioning and a separate living area, depending on the room type.

Activities

The resort’s white sandy beaches and infinity pool are perfect if you want to kick off your shoes and relax. But there’s plenty more besides, from a trip to the Moorea Dolphin Centre or a catamaran tour of nearby bays and islands to a spot of water-skiing, scuba diving at Topdive dive sites, a guided Jeep tour to the island’s ancient volcanic crater, or a visit to Tiki village, a reconstructed ancient Polynesian settlement, which has a room dedicated to Gauguin.

Dining

Meals blend Polynesian and international cuisine and are based on fresh local ingredients – Moorea is called the ‘garden island’. Fare Nui is the swishest of the hotel’s two main restaurant, where French influences can be found, while Fare Hana offers more relaxed dining at lunch and dinner. You can also enjoy a few drinks at the Motu Oné swim-up bar or Motu Iti, which has a lovely shaded terrace area.

Spa

The hotel is home to Hélène Spa, the first spa in the whole of Polynesia. Here, in breathtaking surroundings, the specially trained staff combine traditional Polynesian traditions with French state-of-the-art techniques to provide the very best in relaxation. Options include the ‘Herenui’ eternal love ritual and ‘Moe Moea’, which uses vanilla from the islands.

Golf

It’s a short drive to 18-hole Moorea Green Pearl Golf Course. Ask at the resort for details.
