Location

An exclusive five-star beach resort in the Gulf of Aqaba, the Sofitel Taba Heights is set in a stunning location between the Red Sea and the Sinai Mountains where Egypt meets Israel. With views of Jordan Israel and Saudi Arabia, its blend of Oriental architecture and French art de recevoir, this really is a destination with a difference.

Rooms

The 442 Classic or Superior guest rooms at the Sofitel Taba Heights are vibrantly furnished in yellow, blue and crimson, accented with wood panelling and cool tiled floors, and each has a balcony overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba or the lush gardens. All the rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a desk, a safe and a mini bar, while Superior rooms have sea views and little extras such as tea and coffee-making facilities. But with the same standards of comfort and luxury offered by the Sofitel group the world over, you can’t really go wrong whichever type of room you choose. For max luxury though, the six suites have the most sumptuous accommodation in the resort, with two separate bedrooms, and a living and dining areas, making them ideal for family holidays.

Activities

Unwind at the luxurious So SPA, where there’s a great menu of treatments including massage, and body scrubs, as well as a hamman, sauna and steamrooms, and an outdoor Jacuzzi, plus a beauty and hairdressing salon. There’s also a gym and two tennis courts, so no excuses for being lazy. As well as several swimming pools, and a private beach, there is a whole world of watersports on tap, while you also have access to Egypt’s most prestigious golf course by John Sanford. This being Egypt, diving and snorkeling are de rigueur – there are plenty of gorgeous reefs to explore. For adventures on land, there are excursions to nearby sites such as St Catherine’s Monastery or the city of Petra while the Kids’ Club activities will ensure that children aged from four to 12 are keep occupied.

Dining

Like everything here at the Taba Heights, when it comes to eating, every taste is catered for – from chicken kebab to sashimi. At L’Asiatique, you can see live cooking shows at the grill, and eat Asian specialities including Japanese, Chinese and Thai on the seaside terrace, while Aladdin offers a buffet style dining of theme cuisine, from French to Italian, with views of the Red Sea. For drinks, the Lotus and Beach bars , located beside the pool and on the private beach respectively, offer a great choice of cocktails, while the Sultana bar is the place to sip champagne while admiring the views of the Gulf of Aqaba and the Sunset Bar, tucked away beside the pool, is the perfect spot for a fresh fruit cocktail while the sun goes down.
