Emperador Madrid 4 Star

from £86 per room night

Location

This impressive 4-star luxury hotel is one of Madrid’s historical landmarks. It offers traditional style and a convenient location, right on the Gran Vía, and is just a few minutes’ walk from the city’s many attractions. It’s also close to a number of metro stations (Santa Domingo is opposite, and nearby Plaza de España will take you to the airport in 20 minutes).

Rooms

After a hard day’s sightseeing, guests can retire to one of the Emperador’s 232 elegant bedrooms, done out in 19th-century Spanish style but with the most modern of facilities. All have recently been refurbished to a high standard, and provide air-conditioning, minibar, wifi and satellite TV. As well as classic and club rooms – single rooms are also available – there are special junior and Emperador/Emperatriz suites. The latter are on the 8th and 9th floors and come with a separate living area, and all club rooms and suites receive complimentary access to the Emperador Club.

Activities

The hotel is close to many of Madrid’s must-see destinations, such as the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums, the Royal Palace, the Opera House and the Plaza de Cibeles – as well as offering plenty of shopping and nightlife opportunities. If walking sounds too old school, why not try a guided Segway tour of the city? This is just one of a number of expert-guided tours you can arrange in advance of your stay.

Dining

The hotel’s delicious buffet breakfast will set you up for the day, and you can round things off with a light meal, including salads and gourmet sandwiches, at the Roof Garden Bar and Restaurant.

Spa

In summer months, the hotel opens its rooftop garden and full-size outdoor pool, the perfect place from which to enjoy the Madrid skyline. Enjoy a dip then laze in the sun with a cool drink or cocktail and a snack. There’s also a sauna and fitness centre if you want to work up a sweat.

Golf

There are golf clubs aplenty in Madrid. You can perfect your swing at the nearby Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, or at the Centro de Tecnificación de Madrid, Centro Nacional de Golf, or Federación de Golf de Madrid. And the hotel has facilities to store your clubs during your stay.
