Location

Standing on the famous site of Amsterdam’s former Sweelinck Conservatory of Music, the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam opened in 2011. It’s a contemporary luxury 5-star hotel set within a magnificent Neo-Gothic building that was originally built at the end of the 19th century, an boasts an interior designed by Italian architect and designer, Piero Lissoni. It also offers a great location in the heart of the city’s Museum District on Van Baerlestraat, close to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. To get here, it’s an easy 20-minute drive.

Rooms

The hotel features 129 bedrooms and suites across the hotel’s eight floors including various categories of rooms, including seven single rooms, 12 superior deluxe, 49 deluxe, and 15 duplex rooms as well as various suites. They have a contemporary decor, sleek modern furnishings, generous comfy beds, high-quality linens, and modern amenities including Nespresso machines, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and free newspaper.

Activities

The hotel’s handy location in the heart of Amsterdam’s museum district (Museumplein) on Van Baerlestraat, means it’s close to many of the city’s main museum sights, including the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Royal Concertgebouw. It’s also on the doorstep of the city’s the luxury shopping avenues – PC Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat – as well as the charming Vondelpark, lanes of the Jordaan neighbourhood and a short walk from the historical centre.

Dining

There are two restaurants to choose from and one bar. The Brasserie & Lounge is located in a beautiful internal courtyard with spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass ceiling. It serves classic all-day dining including salads, sandwiches and afternoon tea. The lounge section is furnished with plush sofas and coffee tables, for a relaxed break. Taiko is the hotel’s newest restaurant, serving an Asian-inspired menu alongside live Taiko music, named after ancient Japanese drums.

Spa

All hotel guests have access to the luxury Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre which offers a spa area complete with Watsu pool, whirlpool sauna and Hammam, aw well as a swimming pool. There’s also a fitness area with gym equipment, an area for yoga and pilates, and an organic bar lounge serving healthy food and drinks.
