Metropole 5 Star

from £285 per room night

Location

It doesn’t get more decadent than the 5-star Metropole Hotel, Monte Carlo which dates back to 1886 and was recently renovated in 2004. Located in the centre of Monte Carlo, it’s built in the Belle Epoque style of the former Metropole hotel and upon entering the elegant lobby with its vast displays of orchids, classically styled and luxurious chairs and sofas, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped into an ornate renaissance-style work of art. Despite such opulence, the hotel retains a convivial and relaxed atmosphere, offering guests the best possible stay amid luxurious surroundings in the heart of Monte Carlo.

Rooms

The hotel offers an extensive choice from rooms from deluxe with either a view of Cypress Avenue, the city or sea. They’re traditional and conservative in style, have marble and mahogany bathrooms with massaging jet showers and a large bath. At the other end of the scale, the Carre D’Or Suite is the hotel’s most opulent and generous accommodation located on the rooftop with superb views of the sea, casino and Carre D’Or gardens. As well as a bedroom, it also has a living room, walk-in wardrobe, a marble and gold bathroom, as well as a large lounge complete with library.

Activities

Take a dip in the relaxing heated salt-water pool, take a walk in the lush gardens or relax on the teak sun deck overlooking the sea. When you’re feeling refreshed, Monte Carlo offers plenty of opportunity to people watch and stroll around and the hotel is well located within walking distance of many of the main sights. Boulingrins Gardens are immediately opposite and there’s a generous selection of super yachts moored in the nearby Hercule Harbour.

Dining

Choose from three restaurants from well-known French chef Joël Robochon, two of which are Michelin starred. The first serves sophisticated classic French cuisine cooked in open kitchens; the second – Yoshi – offers healthy modern Japanese food amid a Didier-Gomez-designed interior; the third is Odyssey, a new concept restaurant created by designer Karl Lagerfeld that offers al fresco dining overlooking a swimming pool. Joël Robuchon’s culinary influence also spreads to the hotel’s casual bar and lobby menu, which also serves a selection of cocktails, teas and pastries.

Spa

The Metropole’s Espa Monte Carlo spa is another world, which begins in a Heat Experience area which contains a hammam, sauna and caldarium, then continues into one of several treatment rooms with a Grecian theme.
