Le Meridien Budapest

Le Meridien Budapest 5 Star

from £192 per room night

Location

Le Méridien not only resides in a landmark building from 1913 but is surrounded by history too. Only a few steps from the mighty Danube river, which slices through the city, you’re staying in the heart of a Unesco World Heritage Site. From your central base, set off on foot to explore such attractions as the impressive riverside Parliament, imposing Buda castle and Europe’s largest synagogue.

Rooms

You can almost sense the heady days of empire from the rooms at Le Méridien, their stately design perfectly mirroring the rich tapestry of the city. Tall windows give an atmospheric view either of Erzsebet Square or a quiet pedestrian street. Well-appointed, they feature a comfy king-size bed, seating area to relax, and professional writing desks. The marble bathrooms all come with separate bath and shower, and full-size mirrors are perfect for getting ready for a great night out.

Activities

Each room features a special Méridien Unlock Art pass, which is a clever way to help you enjoy cultural spaces you might never have discovered yourself. In Budapest, you can visit the Trafó building, a former electrical station turned into a contemporary arts centre. The hotel has lots more exciting offers too – including gastronomic tours and a spa package, which not only makes use of the hotel’s excellent facilities but also the city’s legendary thermal baths.

Dining

In a city renowned for its elegant eateries, Le Bourbon restaurant has made a real name for itself during nearly 15 years of captivating diners. Thanks to its attentive service and superb French cuisine (including cheeses from the market halls of Paris), it’s often been voted the best of its kind in Budapest. Try the goose liver terrine infused with deliciously moreish Tokaj wine. And don’t miss the Sunday brunch in Atrium, so called because it’s where you go at any time to enjoy a traditional goulash or slab of chocolate cake under a soaring, stained-glass cupola.

Spa

Work out on cardio machines, swim in the indoor pool under a glass roof or unwind in the Jacuzzi, sauna or steam bath. Situated on the eighth floor, when it comes to chilling out, Le Méridien’s Health Club has it covered. It also features massage rooms and offers a range of top-notch treatments for soothing mind, body and soul. You’re staying by the river, but why not try the Sea Holistic Treatment? It combines mineral-laced marine products with a face and body scrub, followed by a soothing massage and re-energising facial mask.
