Yemaya Resort 4 Star

from £285 per room night

Location

The tropical paradise of Little Corn island is set just 43 miles off the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. This is where you will find the secluded and beautiful resort of Yemaya Island Hideaway & Spa, the ultimate unspoilt island retreat just for adults, where you can kick off your shoes, put on your swimsuit and relax surrounded by azure blue waters, coco palms and lush jungle vegetation. Bliss.

Rooms

Accommodation is in the form of 16 spacious eco-luxury cabanas, with decks overlooking the Caribbean. There are big comfy beds dressed with crisp white linen and brightly coloured embroidered throws, ceiling fans, laptop-compatible safes, hot-stone walled rainfall showers filled with locally made coconut-oil bath products and Wi-Fi – but obviously you won’t be needing that because you’ll be too busy snoozing or sipping from a fresh coconut in your hammock or snorkeling in the azure waters, or something equally tedious.

Activities

Just 3km sq, with a population of just 700 and accessible only by panga boat, Yemaya is the sort of place where you can be busy snorkelling around the coral reefs, paddleboarding , swimming or kayaking – or just sunbathing on the golden sand beach, with the whisper of the wind in the palm trees above you, or indulging in a spa treatment such as a hot stone or deep tissue massage. As well as Organic Garden Tasting Tours, Beach Bootcamp, Holistic Cookin Classes and Natural Skin Care Workshops, Yoga is the main ‘organised’ activity here, and there are various programmes and retreats to choose from, such as the one-week Feed Your Soul Retreat, which also includes nutrition instruction and a cruise on the Moskito sail boat, to the Seane Corn retreat. Both take place in the peaceful open-air studio surrounded by jungle or the platform overlooking the Caribbean. A little further afield, there are Deep Sea Scuba and Snorkelling Trips, fishing trips – and the kitchen will happily cook the fi

Dining

The open-air thatched dining pavilion at Yemaya is beautiful, a relaxed space where you can dine barefoot on the best Nicaraguan cuisine accompanied by breathtaking views of the sea. The emphasis is on healthy food, with delicious breakfasts of tropical fruits and smoothies, and sparkling fresh fish and seafood, free range chicken and beef, and locally grown vegetables and herbs for dinner, pre-empted of course by a tropical fruity cocktail in the beach bar at sunset What’s not to like?
