Location

In the heart of historic Kyoto, this elegant hotel places you close to temples and museums in the Higashiyama Shichijo district. Easy to reach, you're only a few minutes away from the railway station, giving you convenient access to the airport, just 90 minutes away by train. Perfect for sightseeing, the Hyatt is close to numerous palaces, gardens and beautiful buildings.

Rooms

Classic elements of Japanese design are the hallmarks of these modern and welcoming spaces, which feature colourful kimono fabric headboards and comfy king-sized beds. Flatscreen TVs, DVD players and satellite TV come as standard. The luxurious suites have their benefits with tatami living rooms, walk-in living closets and wooden hiba bathtubs.

Activities

The tranquility of old Japan is on display in Kyoto and there are 16 Unesco World heritage sites located here. Staff will be only too happy to make suggestions for seeing the temples, museums and markets; while in the modern city designer boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants are among the attractions.

Dining

Seasonal cuisine is to the fore at The Grill, which features an open kitchen and wood-burning oven. A pretty terrace completes the picture. Over at Touzan, Japanese cooking is showed off in all its authentic glory. Charcoal-fired dishes mingle with sushi and seafood, and ingredients hail from Kyoto and all over the country. A couple of the hotel's extras include a pastry boutique and Italian-style trattoria that does a decent line in pizzas.

Spa

Basing its menu of rituals on Western and Eastern healing traditions, Riraku Spa boasts an impressive array of treatments. Shiatsu, acupuncture, moxibustion and aromatherapy are just some of the options available to guests. Yoga and fitness are also on offer, and all can be tailored to your needs with qualified instructors and therapists.
