5 hottest bars in Atlanta
Don't miss these awesome cocktail bars. The hottest places to unwind after dark.
Brick Store Pub
Legend in the making
Some bars, you just know, are going to become institutions. The Brick Store Pub is one, Atlanta’s favourite beer bar. Though relatively new, the bar conjures up an old European pub vibe, with a second to none beer list, with wonderful craft and Belgians on tap, including 3 Taverns and St. Bernardus Abt 12. There’s also an immense wine cellar, with a variety of Cantillon, Drie Fonteinen, Fantome and many others. A lively tavern-like vibe rounds off a perfect night.

Top of the charts too
Regularly topping polls, Top Flr (easy on the vowels, please) is a mega-popular double storey venue. Downstairs is where you’ll find the bar and casual lounge. It’s an intimate and charming interior, with sleek white seating and brightly coloured wallpaper. Cocktails are the order of the night here. We recommend the super-strength Strange Horse, a mix of gin, chartreuse, ginger beer and mint. Weekends sees DJ’s pumping out the tunes. Lovers visit the romantic restaurant upstairs.

Off the grid and in the know
This little known cult hangout is a definite find. A lively subterranean vibe permeates this nightclub bar, situated in an abandoned parking garage. Set over two storeys, downstairs is a central bar and a packed dance floor and, upstairs, with its sunken couches and soft velvet, is the place to lounge. Best of all, cocktails are great value and the staff who mix them are friendly, knowledgeable and cool. Music runs the full gamut, from house to reggae to old school to ska.

Thanks to a $2million refurbishment, Atlanta’s mega club is mega-glamorous and mega-grand. It’s set over three levels in an old 1920’s opera house, complete with crystal chandeliers and domed ceiling. The crowd is just as gorgeous, with the city’s beautiful people flooding through the doors, or for a more intimate experience, into the VIP opera boxes. It’s definitely not a quiet night out, so come prepared for banging tunes, queues at the door and, as always, a strict dress code.

Let your halo slip
Sometimes the most opulent interiors are hidden behind rather bland doors. Such is the case with Halo Lounge, and its anonymous door yet head-spinning décor inside. Once you’re back down to earth, it’s time to feast your eyes on the drinks menu, which is just as striking and imaginative. The crowd is a mix of suited-up gents and sexy southern belles, making Halo one of the city’s hottest destinations. We loved the back-lit multi-coloured onyx bar. All bars should be this beautiful.
