5 best restaurants in San Diego
Our favourite places to eat. Enjoy awesome food and stunning decor.
SoCal’s only 5 Star 5 diamond experience
It doesn’t get more delicious than this – or more attentive. Renowned throughout the States as one of the country’s top restaurants, Addison is extravagant and ethereal. Its New French dishes like French Pumpkin Velouté and Kobe Beef Short Rib are heaven to the palate and come paired with exquisite wines. The setting is equally grandiose, with an opulent villa oozing glamour, charm and romance. It’s the ultimate place to while away some heavenly hours!

Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crabhouse
Surf and turf at its peak
For fresh seafood only matched by its delicious steak, the place to be is Trulucks. Great value for money means you don’t have to splash the cash to splurge out on awesome food. Our favourite was the crab, which the restaurant gets straight from its own fisheries. There is also a wide range of excellent wines by the glass and the bottle. The proof of the pudding? Locals voted Truluck ‘Best of the Best’, ‘Best Seafood’ and ‘Best Happy Hour’ the last three years in a row!

Prepkitchen Little Italy
Good for you – and your soul
A local institution, Prepkitchen combines organic, handcrafted dishes with convenient and unpretentious service. The result? At once, both gourmet and comforting! We were excited by many stars on the menu, including the Butternut Squash Salad, the famous PK Burger and the Swordfish. It’s communal dining at its best, with a great cocktail space and full bar. Airy and relaxed, nearly all design elements come from salvage or antiques. Just take it all in and enjoy!

Sushi Ota
She sells sushi on the seashore
This incomparable Pacific Beach Japanese offers the most popular sushi in San Diego. From sashimi to tempura to the most Californian California rolls, it’s all made with the freshest fish and ingredients. Romping home to the #1 spot in the Zagat Guide, the décor is pretty ordinary but the food is anything but. In fact, it’s so popular, you’ll be well advised to book in advance. Some say, “Ota isn’t a reason to eat in San Diego, it’s a reason to move here".

Pamplemousse Grille
Race track dining
Be part of the winning crowd! Join the high-society horse-set for a laid-back yet elegant meal. Combing the traditional and innovative, and fusing Mediterranean, Asian and New American cuisines, Pamplemousse beats its competitors by several lengths.
Spend a while perusing its outstanding wine list and make sure you leave room for the mouth-watering desserts. Add to that an eclectic interior and super-cool staff, and we bet on this filly for the win!
