5 hottest bars in Lima
Don't miss these awesome cocktail bars. The hottest places to unwind after dark.
Tropical heat of the clubs
Gottica is one of the two hottest, hippest nightclubs in Lima. (Its rival sits right across the road, as if in some kind of Peruvian stand-off). We chose Gotica, because of its Gothic undertones, which give the club bags of atmosphere, cavernous enough to house all types of clubbers, from travellers to students to the super-rich. International DJ’s play regularly so check their site and dress up, if you want to look the part.

Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde Bar
The art of the concoction
OK, you may not turn into a deranged 19th century killer. But what we can promise you are truly killer cocktails, mixed with a barman’s encyclopaedic knowledge. And of course, the environs of such heady libations are equally upper-class, atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific with sumptuous gardens, exotic blooms, hummingbirds, overstuffed Chesterfields, impeccable service and an enormous amount of brass!

Beautiful people need a beautiful bar
Stands to reason, doesn’t it? The sexy and sophisticated want sexy and sophisticated drinks in sexy and sophisticated surrounds. And this swanky beachfront spot, suspended over the sand, and with stunning views of the surfers, gets it perfectly. The cocktail menu’s creator is considered the best mixologist in town and, with 42 to choose from, you might just think you’ve discovered the meaning of life!

The home of the pisco sour
Every country has its drink. Peruvians like nothing better than a pisco sour: a tall, sexy cocktail which was, oddly enough, invented by a Utah Mormon. You can still find his original recipe at Bar Inglés, a wood-panelled watering hole inside the Country Club Lima Hotel. So what’s in a pisco sour? Four parts pisco, one part lime, one part syrup and an egg white. Shake, pour and savour its sweet foamy topping.

Posada del Mirador
Enter a magical world
It’s like a fairy tale. Find the enchanting little street, with its brightly coloured buildings, just up from the Bridge of Sighs - and you’ll find one of Lima’s best bars. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and a huge cross of lights, its faded colonial interior hearkens to days gone by. The drinks are cold, the cocktails classy and the ceviche, and the service, delicious. If this isn’t your wonderland, we don’t know what is. Pay with cash.
