Koh by Ian Kittichai
Thai Indian fusion food at its best
India’s first signature Thai restaurant, Koh by Ian Kittichai is one of Mumbai’s hottest and most beautifully designed dining establishments. Masala Library
Elite eatery in the heart of the financial district
Located in Mumbai’s elite First Indian Financial Center, there is a hint of opulence about Masala Library. The service is excellent and the small but perfectly formed menu puts a global twist on Indian cuisine. Each thoughtfully put-together dish is a work of art, from the absolutely lip smacking lamb with kokum and maple syrup to its awe-inspiring desserts, which include ghevar cheesecake and burnt toffee banoffee pie.

Culture Curry
A veggie’s dream
Proving there’s a lot more to southern food than idli and dosas, exquisite dishes from all over the south, ranging from Andhra and Coorg to Kerala are the specialty at Culture Curry, and of course, vegetarians are particularly well catered for. Try the rajma curry – a delicious kidney and green bean curry in coconut gravy, or Artipoovu Vada - dumplings made out of banana flowers, served with peanut powder and coconut chutney.
Kataria Rd, Matunga West
4.

Food Plaza Restaurant
Fresh food fast
This down to earth eatery is a favourite with the locals and primarily offers Arabic and Mughlai cuisine, however, the wide menu also offers a Tandoori grill and Chinese food. The staff at The Food Plaza are friendly and unpretentious and the food is hearty – this is no haute cuisine, but visit when you’re hungry and you won’t be disappointed!
8/32 Haji Niyad Ahmed Azmi Road | Near Radio Club, Grants Building, Colaba Po, Mumbai 400005.

5.
Peshawari
First or Last meal extravaganza
Make this north-west frontier restaurant, outside the international airport, your first or last stop in Mumbai. It’s on the expensive side, but the spectacular ‘get your fingers dirty’ food is renowned and well worth the price. Try the Sikandari raan (leg of spring lamb braised in malt vinegar, cinnamon and black cumin), the chicken kebab, or the buttery dhal Bukhara (a thick black dhal cooked for a day). Well it’s not worth taking those last few Rupees back on the plane, is it?
