Don’t pass up on the pinchos at La Viña del Ensanche, with its classic local atmosphere in a fantastic location in the heart of Bilbao. One of the Basque region’s most famous restaurants, Zortziko serves a creative menu and boasts a Michelin star. Traditional Basque cuisine can be sampled in any of three different dining rooms, including traditional and contemporary, although the most popular is the underground wine cellar. The chef’s artistic flair means the menu is ever-changing, but often includes delicacies such as roasted garlic squid with black rice and foie gras terrine and guinea hen in truffle sauce.

Weave your way through the streets of the Old Town to Rio Oja for a taste of local charm.
