In the early 13th century all the glassmakers from Venice who were forced to leave because of the risk of fire in the tightly-packed wooden city buildings, settled in Murano and created a glass industry for which it is still renowned today. During your time here you’ll visit a leading glassmaking workshop where you’ll learn how typically colourful Murano glass is created from simple silica sand by a master glassmaker.
