In the early 13th century all the glassmakers from Venice who were forced to leave because of the risk of fire in the tightly-packed wooden city buildings, settled in Murano and created a glass industry for which it is still renowned today. During your time here you’ll visit a leading glassmaking workshop where you’ll learn how typically colourful Murano glass is created from simple silica sand by a master glassmaker.

The final stop of the day is at St Mark's Square, home to the magnificent 11th century St Mark's Basilica, where you will be dropped off to enjoy free time to explore Venice.
