Don't miss these awesome cocktail bars. The hottest places to unwind after dark

Cocktails on tap

1. Delirious

Cocktails on tap

Our all-time favourite bar

Rodney Bay Village is where it’s at in St Lucia after dark, and we like Delirious for its civilised atmosphere within the hustle and bustle. This cool cocktail bar is elegantly shaped like a horseshoe and serves a selection of original martinis, caipirinhas and mojitos, all made using fresh fruits and herbs by bartenders who take their creations seriously. Come here for the lively feel, friendly service and chance to socialise.

For a little R&R

2. JD's Mangrove Bar

For a little R&R

Rest, relax, unwind and enjoy… this casual bar and restaurant sits on rustic wooden decking over the water at the back of the unspoiled Marigot Bay. Breathe in the beauty of the area with the on-demand ferry from the Discovery at Marigot Bay Hotel, or stroll down the boardwalk from JJ's Paradise Resort through the mangroves to the bar. Sit back with a cold beer or a glass of wine and let this secluded spot cast its spell.

Rum for the cool crowd

3. The Cane Bar

Rum for the cool crowd

Our favourite hotel bar has to be this classy little number at the Sugar Beach Viceroy Resort (formerly The Jalousie Plantation). Sip the world’s best aged rums in this new specialty St Lucia rum venue, with its chic and sleek white-and-charcoal décor and ultra-white bar. The professional ‘rummelier’ can help choose a rum to suit you, and on Thursdays you’ll be drawn in by the Black & White Party, with free rum punch, wine, beer and chocolate truffles.

Party central

4. Banana Split

Party central

Guaranteeing a crowd to get down and groove with, along with happy hour specials and live entertainment, the notorious nightspot of Banana Split is where St Lucia’s younger crowd love to party. A dance club and bar, it has a friendly feel and its visitors like to be on top of the trends so it’s worth dressing up. Drink and dance to your heart’s content!

Dancing in the streets…

5. Gros Islet Street Party

Dancing in the streets…

OK, so it’s not so much a bar as an ‘experience’, but it’s still a must-do for a taste of local life, rum and music. Every Friday night, the fishing village of Gros Islet plays host to a street party, with food stalls as well as chilled bottles of Piton beer and powerful rum punch. Large loudspeakers bring you classic Caribbean soca beats, and crowds gather to watch the locals perform. Just keep an eye on your bags!
