Don't miss these awesome cocktail bars. The hottest places to unwind after dark

Drink up for take-off

1. Helipad

Drink up for take-off

Our all-time favourite bar

Ok, ok! You can’t land a chopper in the middle of this gigantic roof bar. The decorative light box "H" are, in fact, just seats. The good news is your hairstyle is safe from the whirl of rotors and you can enjoy Helipad Iced Teas with views over the Singapore River. Best of all, for Singapore style-drinking, this is a great value venue, with plenty of specials on offer, especially early weekday evenings. So order drinks and hover around!

Revolutionary hotel needs equally feisty bar

2. Ku De Ta

Revolutionary hotel needs equally feisty bar

At 200 metres high, perched on top of the iconic Marina Bay Sands, the hotel’s party bar stands head, shoulders and infinity swimming pool above the rest of the city. With spectacular views back into the bright lights as well as out over the waters, you’ll want to arrive at sunset for the full breath-taking experience. Drink of the night goes to Lady Be Mine, a refreshing Martini with lychee, rose water and apple juice. Cheers!

Orchard Road oasis

3. The Horse's Mouth

Orchard Road oasis

So you’ve shopped till you drop on one of the world’s most beautiful retail streets – and you’ve just enough energy to make it to the nearest bar. Which do you choose? The Horse’s Mouth, of course. Phenomenally cool, with a hidden entrance, funky music and hip design is just part of it. What takes this place over the top is its service, by charming mixologists who know their trade. Feeling adventurous? Give them enough rope and they’ll hang a mean cocktail for you. Our favourite was the Airmail. Get ready to fly!

Buy! Buy! Sell! Sell!

4. Beer Market

Buy! Buy! Sell! Sell!

You don’t have to be a trader to drink here. In fact, most people aren’t. But this is probably the only bar inspired directly by the dynamics of the stock exchange. What this means to you and me is that drinks’ prices rise and fall according to demand, so beer goes up when the demand is high and dips again when interest wanes. Every drink is listed on LCD screens, and the prices are continually updated, giving your evening a bearish or bullish feeling. It’s the one time you’ll be wishing for Black Friday!

Institution on the Singaporean scene

5. Home

Institution on the Singaporean scene

Party it up in Singapore's top underground club. It’s a real place with a real feel so you’ll enjoy local bands, DJ’s and regular club nights. The setting is minimalist chic: white, black and red on white. And the crowd it draws are just as real as the club: musos and aficionados, one and all. Service is great as are the cocktails. Beer is ice cold. In short, this is home from home for the discerning. So if you want to go out, go Home.
