Thanlyin full day tour with Kyaik-khauk Pagoda

A day in the country

On this popular tour you leave Burma's colourful capital behind and discover what life is like these days in rural Myanmar. Right up until the middle of the 18th Century, when Yangon, formerly Rangoon, took over the role, Thanlyin (Syrium) was a major port and trading centre. Today it is a sleepy town with shaded streets and a bustling market.

Places of interest you visit here include the Kyaik-khauk Pagoda, with its commanding hill top location, and Yele Pagoda which is situated approximately eight miles from the town and reached by a small ferry. On this tour you also stop to walk around the remains of the Portuguese built church before returning to Yangon in the late afternoon.
