5 hottest bars in Hong Kong

Don't miss these awesome cocktail bars. The hottest places to unwind after dark

Molecular gastronomy goes cocktail

1. Blue Butcher Bar

Molecular gastronomy goes cocktail

Our all-time favourite bar

We’ll bet you a Blue Jack (that’s apple brandy with bacon) that you haven’t tasted cocktails like this. Named the Best Cocktails in HK, it’s easy to see why. The bar is famous for its molecular flavours, which run from candy floss to t-bone steak! Blue’s a theme here: bright and breezy, and they’re loved for their Blue Absinthe Fairy, an antique absinthe fountain with gin, blue curaçao, Lillet blanc, fresh lime – and, of course, the hard stuff!

Go swanky or go home

2. Felix

Go swanky or go home

As one of the swankiest hotels on the planet, it’s only natural you host the swankiest bar too! Felix is a Philippe Starck creation, and damn the budget! It’s Rolls Royce’s for VIP’s, a wine bar, an American Bar and a Perspex box dance floor called the Crazy Box. Oh, and stay sober enough to enjoy the balcony view: a neon panorama of Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. Oh, and the toilets are something else, but that’s a surprise till you get there!

Made in Hong Kong

3. Tai Lung Fung

Made in Hong Kong

Want a change from plush hotel bars? Venture into Wan Chai, land of the locals, and visit Tail Lung Fang. Named after a 1960s-era Cantonese opera troupe, with a neon sign casting a glow over its entrance, this is no ordinary HK bar. The decor takes you back to the 60’s, and the city’s post-war boom, with mosaic floors, vintage posters and fluorescent plastic toys that were once hallmark Hong Kong. So grab a beer and reminisce with the locals!

Hong Kong’s Little Scandinavia

4. Finds

Hong Kong’s Little Scandinavia

Ice cold Europe in balmy Asia? An eccentric mix, we’ll grant you! But it works – and wonderfully so. Elegant and minimal, blonde wood and clean colours, it’s very Nordic. Even the name, Finds, is an acronym of Finland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Enjoy refreshing cucumber cocktails and Earl Grey Martinis and, naturally, the full range of vodka! Remind yourself you’re still in Hong Kong by hitting the outdoor terrace and its stylish HK atmosphere.

1/F The Luxe Manor 39 Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon, Hong Kong   Tel: +86 2522 9318

Rooftop with a view

5. RED

Rooftop with a view

No trip to Asia would be complete without cocktails on a rooftop! In Hong Kong, that bar would be RED, a breath-taking space from the moment you enter. The views are incredible, the bustling HK skyline meets the waters of Victoria Harbour. The crowd’s a similar mix, busy professionals and cool cosmopolitans. The cocktail to be seen with is the Strawberry Blond - lemon vodka with, naturally, fresh strawberries and ginger. Groove out the night with smooth DJs playing lounge and funk.
