This five-day cruise takes you on one of the world's great river journeys, along the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. It's a wonderfully relaxed way to see all the fascinating historical sights for which this part of the world is famous, and the floating hotel known as Oberoi Philae is a supremely comfortable way to travel. Designed to resemble a 19th-century paddle steamer, it combines old-fashioned charm with excellent fine-dining and facilities including a library, fitness centre, plunge pool and spa.
You'll board the Oberoi Philae in Aswan at noon, and your trip begins with a delicious lunch on board as you cruise. You'll have the afternoon at leisure to relax and get to know your floating home, before afternoon tea and a late-afternoon trip to the Nubian Museum by motor boat. You'll then return to the Oberoi Philae in time for dinner and will dock overnight in Aswan.
An early start this morning, as you wake to tea and coffee with cookies before your private sunrise visit to Philae temple and the High Dam. You'll then return to the Oberoi Philae for breakfast and begin cruising to Komombo, enjoying some pampering in the sumptuous onboard spa along the way. Next you'll visit the twin temple of Komombo, one side of which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, worshipped as a god of fertility and creator of the world, and the other to the falcon god Haroeis, also known as Horus. You'll return to your ship for lunch and continue to Edfu, with plenty of time to relax along the way. You'll be served afternoon tea on board then, as dusk falls, you'll enjoy a cocktail reception with entertainment before a delicious dinner. You'll dock overnight in Edfu.
After breakfast this morning you'll visit the incredibly well-preserved Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus the falcon god. You'll then continue your cruise to Essna, with more time to relax in the spa along the way. You'll enjoy lunch and, later, afternoon tea on board, before you cross the Essna Lock and continue on your way to Luxor. You'll enjoy another delicious dinner on board, and dock in Luxor for the night.
You'll rise early this morning and, after breakfast, you'll explore the West Bank of ancient Thebes. Your tour will take in the Valley of the Kings, where you'll have the chance to admire its royal tombs, before you continue to the temple of Madinat Habu and Dier el-Madina, the ancient village which was once home to the workers who built the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Your final stop will be at the magnificent Colossi of Memnon. Later in the afternoon, you'll visit Luxor temple, before returning to the Oberoi Philae for dinner. You'll dock overnight in Luxor.
After breakfast this morning you'll visit Karnak temple, the final destination on your cruise.
