The Galapagos Islands are famous for their breathtaking volcanic landscapes and diverse wildlife, including iguanas, sea lions, a huge range of bird species and, of course, giant tortoises. You'll have the chance to see all these on this six-day cruise of the archipelago's central and southern islands, travelling on Ocean Spray, a luxury catamaran. On board, you'll have a spacious, comfortable cabin with your own balcony, as well as facilities including a large sun deck and a Jacuzzi. It's the perfect way to explore these unique islands, the world's first World Heritage Site.
Your trip begins as you arrive in Baltra airport and transfer to Ocean Spray, your luxury catamaran, where you'll have a short briefing about the boat and Baltra Island. In the afternoon you'll visit Santa Fe Island, where you'll have a chance to explore the small, picturesque bay and hike the trails which lead to scenic clifftop viewpoints and a prickly pear cactus forest.
Your first stop today is at Suárez Point, one of the most outstanding wildlife areas of the archipelago, and a great place to spot blue-footed boobies, albatrosses and Nazca boobies. From here you'll head to Gardner Bay, a beautiful beach which is home to a large colony of sea lions, then on to Osborn Islet, a white-sand beach where you can swim and snorkel.
Today you're headed to San Cristobal, where your first stop is at the Interpretation Center, to learn more about the history and biodiversity of the Galápagos, then on to La Galapaguera, to learn about the giant tortoise breeding program established by the National Park. In the afternoon you'll continue to Isla Lobos, named after the sea lions that gather on the shore here, then on to Leon Dormido, home to a large colony of sea birds.
You'll continue your exploration of San Cristobal today, beginning at Pitt Point, where you'll follow the steep trail up the cliff to an area that's home to a huge range of birds, including frigatebirds, storm petrels and Nazca, blue-footed and red-footed boobies. This is also a great opportunity for snorkelling and scuba diving. From here you'll continue to Cerro Brujo, or Witch Hill, a beautiful white-sand beach where you can swim or snorkel and observe wildlife including sea turtles and rays.
Your first stop today is on Floreana Island, at the sandy beach of Post Office Bay, named for the wooden barrel where travellers have been leaving letters to home since the 18th century, in the hope that another traveller headed that way will deliver them. From here you'll continue to Cormorant Point, where you'll find a lagoon which attracts flamingos, stilts and white-cheeked pintails, as well as a remarkable green beach, the sand coloured by olivine crystals. Finally you'll head to Devil's Crown, a volcanic crater with a coral reef in the centre which is one of the best snorkelling sites in the archipelago, teeming with tropical fish.
You'll spend your final morning at Black Turtle Cove, on Santa Cruz, a shallow cove only accessible by dinghy which is a haven for young marine life including blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, sea turtles and rays. After time to explore here you'll transfer to the airport for your journey home.
