Are you stuck for ideas for a Mother's Day present? A mother and daughter break is the perfect way to say thank you, swap gossip or spend some quality time together. Why not whisk Mum off her weary feet on a stress-free trip to sunnier climes, or spoil her with a glamorous city shopping break?
After a hectic start to the year, some relaxation and pampering might just be what your Mum deserves. Book in some mother and daughter bonding time with a relaxing aromatherapy massage or Tai Chi lesson at a luxurious spa in an exotic location such as Thailand or St Lucia.
Alternatively, your Mum might enjoy a bit of retail therapy, without any reluctant men in tow, in an exciting destination such as the ‘Windy City’ of Chicago or New York. Enjoy brunch in a skyscraper restaurant after a whirlwind shopping spree and then why not take in an afternoon musical matinée, such as Jersey Boys or Chicago?
Everyone enjoys a day at the beach, so take your mother to a beautiful location such as the Blue Waters Inn in Tobago, a beachfront resort tucked away in its own secluded bay, or the Four Seasons in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where she can relax by the water, order a delicious cocktail and put her feet up to read a good book in peace and quiet.
Or perhaps a week at sea with a luxurious cruise on Royal Caribbean Line's Splendour of the Seas around South America will be just the ticket to let Mum how much you care this Mother’s Day. The cruise begins and ends in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and includes stops at Punta del Este and Montevideo in Uruguay and Argentina's beautiful capital city, Buenos Aires.
For the more active type, a winter sports trip to Zermatt in Switzerland or St Anton in Austria might be more up Mum’s street. Spring in Zermatt means glistening ski trails under the sun, perfect snow conditions, and tasty snacks on the terrace of a mountain restaurant. St Anton is popular with every level of skier and party-goer with fabulous pistes, cosy wooden ski chalets and gluwein-fuelled après-ski parties.
