The first signs of spring are starting to show, leaving many of us in a sunnier mood and ready for things to warm up!

Washington D.C is gearing up to celebrate the return of spring too, with the National Cherry Blossom Festival coming up in March. Over the space of three weeks the city will turn pastel pink as over 3,000 cherry blossom tress bloom and springtime celebrations take place on the streets and in the parks. We’ve got great deals on trips to D.C to help you get out there to enjoy the floral festival, as well as see the iconic sights in Washington, so join us as we reveal our top trips to D.C this spring!

Save 10% on spring breaks
Cherry Trees, Dawn

Visit Washington D.C at start of April to see the beautiful cherry trees in all their glory. Spend four nights at the wonderfully chic Helix hotel in the city from the 1st Apirl until the 30th and save 10 per cent, paying just £799 per person, flying with United Airlines.
Parade

Discover the history behind the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which celebrates the 3,020 cherry blossom trees which were given to the capital as a gift of friendship from Japan back in 1912. The trees were planted around the city for all to enjoy, but the best place to see them in bloom is on the Tidal Basin, where nearly 1,700 trees line the water.
Kite Festival

You’ll find more than just pale pink petals scattered across the city in spring, with more than 200 international cultural performances expected to take place, as well as over 90 other special events. From the 20th March through to the 13th April, D.C will pay homage to Japanese culture, as well as the city’s own rich and unique heritage with fireworks, food stalls and the famous kite flying festival.

Capitol Building

It’s not just the flourishing flowers that make Washington worth visiting this spring, as the cultural landmarks and historical monuments are always quite something to marvel at. Fly to the Capital Region with Virgin Atlantic and save 10 per cent when you book with us from the 31st March until the 26th June.
Charlottesville

Williamsburg

During your fortnight in Washington you’ll also visit historic Williamsburg, the centre of political events in the 18th century which led to the American Revolution, and the gorgeous Virginia Beach. The tour includes flights, 12 nights’ accommodation, car hire and 10 breakfasts.
