Virgin Atlantic has launched a new TV ad campaign aimed at recruiting new staff and also celebrating its existing staff members. The advertisement was unveiled on 29th December on the airline website and shows off a selection of existing staff members who ‘fly in the face of ordinary’.
Virgin has announced new domestic routes between Heathrow, Manchester, Aberdeen and Edinburgh and hope the new advert will help recruit the 150 new staff the airline requires. The airline is hoping to target young people into joining the Virgin Atlantic team and Sir Richard Branson, president of Virgin Atlantic said that the airline was “always on the lookout for gifted people to grow our business.”
"At a time of soaring youth unemployment, our advertisement is a powerful new year message encouraging everyone to look again at young people and the talents they have to offer to businesses and industries all over the country" he added.
The multimillion pound advertising campaign highlights the amazing contribution and skills of the airline’s crew, designers and pilots and celebrates all levels of the workforce. The ad features the story of a young child fascinated by flight who goes on to become a Virgin Atlantic pilot and another child who is intrigued by how things work and later becomes one of the airline's top design engineers. The ad slogan ‘flying in the face of ordinary’ plays on Virgin Atlantic's image of having a pioneering spirit.
The advert was aired globally on New Year’s Day and will broadcast on television stations and well as on-demand networks and online channels.
