From a Caribbean island to cosmopolitan cities, we bring you the best after-dark parties.
West Indians love to party and, when the sun sets in Antigua, the island comes alive with a bustling nightlife scene. You’ll find bars on the beaches, on hilltops, in forts and old creole buildings. A few of our favourite nightlife spots in Antigua include Hamilton’s Wine Bar overlooking English Harbour’s docks, Mad Mongoose in the heart of Falmouth Harbour, Miller’s by the Sea, on a stunning stretch of sand at Fort Bay and a rustic Antiguan classic at the fort above English Harbour, Shirley Heights Lookout.
Most nightlife venues in Hong Kong cluster around Central (the Central Business District). Lan Kwai Fong is the country’s trendiest area to unwind after dark and it’s a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike. SoHo, in the heart of Central, is also popular with night owls. Enjoy Hong Kong’s vibrant nightlife by taking a night cruise around Victoria Harbour, visiting bars and nightclubs or mingling with locals as you stroll the streets. Sample quirky cocktails - including candy floss and T-Bone steak flavours - at the Blue Butcher Bar, enjoy the daily happy hour and incredible views at rooftop bar RED or venture to Wan Chai, where the locals gather at Tail Lung Fang.
Nicknamed the Sun Fun Capital, Miami’s party scene is world-renowned. You’ll find opulent nightclubs, thriving local bars and lounges plus the best Latin music scene in America. Dance to live music in a rock bar, see celebrities around the South Beach area or try table hopping in hip lounges. Be sure to sample deliciously-novel cocktails at trendy pop-up bars on the beach, such as The Broken Shaker, perch on motorcycle-inspired seats and get inspiration for your next tattoo at Love Hate Lounge or mingle with the rich and famous at The Mansion.
Rio de Janeiro
The nightlife in Rio is legendary and Cariocas (as the locals are known) certainly know how to let their hair down. Join the fun by visiting Copacabana, the Laogo district, Ipanema beach and St Teresa (the artists’ quarter) where you’ll find a dizzying array of street parties, nightclubs and Samba bars. Arty types will love the bar at The Solar Theatre, while those after a slice of local history should head to Armazém São Thiago. The best chopp (Rio’s beer of choice) in town can be found at Jobi. While in Rio, don’t forget to sample a Caipirinha (or five) - Brazil's national cocktail.
Whatever your tastes, the nightlife scene in Sydney won’t let you down. From laid-back beach bars for post-sightseeing beers to wild all-night parties in backstreet basement clubs and swanky hotel hangouts, Sydney has something for everyone. Music heads will enjoy drinking to a 700-strong vinyl catalogue in Mojo Record Bar, while locals and travellers mingle at the three-storey Shore Club at Manly Beach. If you like your watering holes more ornate, then head to the heritage-listed underground Marble Bar, a haven of Victorian excess.
