The Best Street Food in Las Vegas

Food on the go is getting ever-trendier, with festivals, sporting events and markets often the beneficiaries of this increased quality. Street food is everywhere now though, in our cities, outside our bars and really competing with restaurants and cafes alike. One place which has reaped the rewards is fabulous Las Vegas and here's an appetiser of some of the best for you to savour.

fukuburger

Arguably the most popular food truck in the area, the famous Fukuburger was voted to have the best burger locally by Eater Vegas. Blending traditional All-American burgers with aspects of Japanese cuisine has proved to be a winning combination for the chain that has now set up a stall in the Hawaiian Marketplace retail centre on Las Vegas Boulevard. One ingredient shared by a number of the burgers is wasabi mayo. Widely known for it's heat and it's prominence in Japanese cuisine, the wasabi adds a kick to this taste sensation. As expected, the Fuku (or lucky) Burger is the most popular option, but for those who prefer not to have a beef burger, a Chicken Katsu Burger may well be up their street.

slidin thru

Also hugely popular, Slidin Thru serves up the smaller option of sliders that pack an equally big punch with their taste. With a comic-book paint job on the food van you'll do well to miss it when these guys are in town and, better yet, you'll have something to look at when you inevitably have to queue for this popular vendor. If you're feeling adventurous, be sure to order the Mystery Slider where you'll be at the Chef's mercy, though they are usually special edition treats! Otherwise sink your teeth into a Barby with angus beef, cheddar, caramelised jalapeno and onion strips drizzled with smoky bbq sauce.

engine 1

If burgers aren't America's favourite food, then the answer would surely have to be pizza and that's exactly what the rather unique Engine 1 cooks up for it's customers. The first thing you'll notice about this vendor is the truck itself, an old fire engine, still bright red and as shiny as it was in it's heyday. Cooking up freshly made pizzas in an actual word burning pizza oven, this fire engine brings the heat for a change. Perfect for sharing you'll have your choice of some traditional toppings and a few which are a little more experimental too.

stripchezze

And now time for something completely different. The interestingly-named Stripchezze is, as you would imagine, a real treat for cheese-lovers who visit the Las Vegas strip. With a range of cheese-centric offerings, mostly served on tasty sourdough, you may be a bit spoilt for choice. For something with a bit of bite, the Hot Streak's hot cheeto crusted sourdough coupled with jalapenos and pepper jack cheese will prove a taste sensation for you.
