Take a Walk on the Wild Side

As National Pet Month gets underway, we take a look at the best holiday destinations to meet and interact with members of the animal kingdom.

Going out to the wild can be an incredible experience for you and your family. It provides you with the remarkable opportunity to witness nature in it's purest form without any distractions.

The wildest of the wild would of course come in the form of a safari in Africa. Although there are no guarantees over who you will see over your day, there always lies the potential for some truly special, once-in-a-lifetime moments on safari like this:

Source: Youtube/Jason Schlosberg

This video was taken at Kruger National Park, which provides you with the opportunity of seeing all of the 'Big Five' (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino) in a single day. You'll be taken on game drives across different times of the day to witness the animals in different situations during your three day trip.

The tour's standard rate starts at £405pp and includes 2 nights accommodation with half board, making it a perfect add-on for a longer holiday in South Africa.

Of course, you don't have to get that wild to see some wildlife, but occasionally you have to get wet! As you probably predicted from the off, we are referring to swimming with dolphins in Australia. It's on everyone's bucket list for a reason!

However, this tour of Adelaide has so much more to offer including a trip to the famous Kangaroo Island. Here you sample delectable honey ice cream made by the local bees and having dessert is just for starters!

Sea Lions

You will be welcomed by the local sea lions at their popular conservation park; behold the daily pelican feeding in the evening; say hello to the koalas and last, but by no means least, feed Kangaroos in the wildlife park. Tie in the visit to Australia's largest wine-producing region: Barossa Valley and all the spare leisure time on offer, this trip is worth going down under for on it's own.

Standard rate starts at £758pp and first class at £796pp, including 4 nights bed and breakfast, 3 lunches, airport transfers and tours as per itinerary here.

There is also an alternative for those less wild of you though. What better way to make friends with animals than by meeting some of the world's most famous? We are of course referring to the magical world of Disney! Befriend Mickey, Donald, Pluto and co. on a fabulous trip to Florida with fun to be had round every corner.

Disney

Seriously though, include a visit to Sea World to get an unbeatable view of the creatures of the ocean and even be treated to a show or two by the locals. As well as seeing orcas, dolphins and penguins, you'll have plenty fo opportunity to take advantage of the incredible rides on offer including the thrilling Kraken (a real beast of a roller coaster!).

Get 8 nights hotel accommodation from just £462pp and go the whole hog on this action-packed family holiday of a lifetime here.

Of course, if you actually have pets they may prove a little jealous of these holiday ideas, so why give them a treat too? Who's a good boy?
