A Simpsons theme park will launch in the summer of 2013 in Orlando, Florida, bringing the town of Springfield to life and giving fans the chance to visit the towns most famous attractions.
Visitors will be able to have a drink with the locals at Moe’s Tavern, dine in style at Krusty Burger, or pay tribute to the great Jebediah Springfield at his status in the town square.
This is all the creation of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, which has had a popular Simpsons-themed ride since 2008, and is now expanding a whole park around the legendary show. Additional rides and attractions at the new park will include Kang & Kodos' Twirl & Hurl, a spinning ride in tribute to the slimy green aliens who haunt the shows “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween specials, and the Android’s Dungeon and Baseball Card Shop.
The show, which has run since 1989, totalling more than 500 episodes, has become something of an institution, not just within the United States, but worldwide. The Simpsons Movie grossed $527 million at the box office when it was released in 2007, and the enduring appeal of the show is evident by the number of prestigious guest stars queuing up to make appearances on it.
And now fans of the show finally have the chance to walk the famous streets of Springfield and meet some of the characters that have made The Simpsons so popular over so many years.
