Yesterday British Airways announced the start of services between London Heathrow and San Jose, California with the daily service starting today and flights starting on 4th May 2016 from Terminal 5. This exciting news means California has seldom been a better or easier place to travel to. So today, we're showing you just why you might want to fly yourselves to San Jose pronto!
San Jose enjoys the many benefits of California, with the sun a regular visitor to the west coast and the city's numerous beaches. Serving as a new gateway into the state, San Jose may well prove to be a popular stopover destination, being less than an hour's drive from San Francisco. Obviously, that means that the draw of Los Angeles and Yosemite National Park aren't far away either, so why bother with San Jose?
Well, for a start, the city is a thriving hub for business, meaning that San Jose is primed for people only there for a short stay, meaning there's plenty to do that won't take up too much of your time. The chic Santana Row typifies this as a chic shopping district just off of downtown. By day, enjoy stylish restaurants, a move theatre and designer shops, by night enjoy a lively atmosphere with plenty of opportunity to people-watch at the trendy bars and nightclubs.
Culturally speaking, there are also a plethora of engaging and interesting museums to discover in San Jose, covering a wide range of specialities. These range from tomb replicas and ancient discoveries at the Rosicurucian Egyptian Museum; to the modern works of the San Jose Museum of art and the curiosity inducing exhibits at the Tech Museum of Innovation. Another point of interest can be found at Winchester Mystery House, a piece of San Jose history. The estate houses topsy-turvy designs including a Hall-of-Fires, seance room and a staircase to nowhere. Housing a host of comedians and concert performances, the California Theatre is also well worth a visit.
For a day full of thrills, head to California's Great America Theme Park and enjoy the shorter queues and more relaxed atmosphere than the Magic Kingdom. With the popular Flight Deck coaster, impressive shows and carnival-like booths scattered round the park, there is little to suggest that you won't enjoy your day out here. Best of all, on a hot day you can make the most of Great America's Boomerang Bay water park where you can cool off on a host of fun slides, a wave pool and cabana.
