Emirates has revealed plans to trial a brand new shisha lounge on-board its fleet of Airbus A380 aircraft. The lounges, which would be available exclusively to business and first class passengers, are expected to launch on several of the superjumbo aircraft from next month.
Passengers flying to the USA, the Middle East and beyond in either first or business class will be able to pre-order a shisha from the on-board menu at their seat and can then make their way to the shisha lounge on-board the aircraft after their main meal.
“Alongside unique offerings such as our Signature Spa and Onboard Lounges, with our new Signature Shisha Rooms premium customers will be now be able to relax amid luxurious surroundings with a traditional waterpipe,” read a statement from the Dubai-based carrier.
“This new service will provide our Middle Eastern passengers with the sort of home comforts they’ve come to expect on our award-winning airline, while presenting those flying to the Middle East for the first time with the opportunity to sample one of the true tastes of Arabia before they’ve even landed.”
The airline has stated that if the trial runs smoothly it hopes to extend the service to all its Airbus A380’s by the end of this year. However, the airlines’ smoking ban will still apply, and smoking regular tobacco products such as cigarettes or cigars will still be prohibited on-board all Emirates flights.
Passengers looking to try out the new service can experience the new shisha lounges on-board selected long-haul flights from next month.
