Earlier in the month London and Milan proved that fashion is no longer dominated by womenswear, putting on menswear shows that could easily rival any of the major fashion weeks. This week, the fashion circus flies to Paris to wow the crowds, and if the opening day schedule is anything to go by, France is bound to impress.
Though London seemingly triumphed this year, with its most successful Men’s Fashion Week to date, it is Paris that everybody now has a watchful eye on. For years, Paris has set out to oust Milan, regarded as the home of men’s fashion, and become the new spot for fashion-forward clothing for men.
The shows kick off on today with Lucien Pellat Finet opening, followed by Carven, Valentino and Raf Simons, among others. Tuesday’s catwalks are set to be drenched in sartorial elegance, as Rick Owens, 22/4 Hommes_Femmes and Louis Vuitton unveil their looks for Spring/Summer 2014.
The rest of the week will see international design houses such as Dior Homme, Kenzo, Givenchy, John Calliano, Hermes, Commes de Garcons and Paul Smith take to the runways, with Saint Laurent closing the shows on Sunday 30th June.
However, the exclusive Paris Men’s Fashion Week is not just renowned for the fashion - the parties taking place throughout the week are set to be some of the most star studded of the fashion year, bursting with anybody who’s anybody in the fashion and entertainment industry. The rumour mill is already churning out stories about who’s been bad mouthing who, and as this month of fashion comes to an end, so do tethers and almighty feuds are bound to kick off!
