Orlando Bloom becomes latest celeb to back BA

British actor Orlando Bloom has become the latest celebrity to promote British Airways’ flights to Australia. The news has come just weeks after it was announced that his model wife Miranda Kerr is now an ambassador for the Australian airline Qantas.

The couple are now supporting rival routes, following Qantas dropping its long standing partnership with British Airways on their “Kangaroo Route” via Singapore in favour of new routes with its Middle Eastern partner Emirates.  The Pirates of the Caribbean star will now help promote BA’s new route to Sydney, which is served on a Boeing 777-300ER. "As someone that flies regularly, I love nothing more than to kick back and relax and enjoy the great amenities and service British Airways first class has to offer,'' said Bloom. "British Airways is incredibly proud of our heritage in Australia and we are very excited about the recent changes that we have made to the service which will better serve the needs of our valued customers in Australia.'' The new London to Sydney route was launched earlier this month and saw British model Goergia May Jagger strut her stuff up and down the aisles of the new aircraft that will serve the route. Passengers flying the new route will now be able to enjoy the benefits of flying on the airlines’ latest fleet and can take advantage of the connections available from the routes' new home at Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Speaking out about the couple flying the flag for rival airlines, Alan Joyce, chief executive officer at Qantas said “we're not going to marry British Airways with Qantas to keep the couple together. We tried that before and it didn't work.” Image sources: 1 2
