The Eye Awards has announced its list of the best luxury hotels operating during 2011.
Marking the Eye Awards' inaugural year, the list of luxury hotels was carefully researched and split into winners for various regions and types of resort. The hotels were rated according to a range of criteria, including their ability to cater for the needs of visitors with diverse cultural backgrounds.
Awards were presented to regions including Africa, Europe, America, Arabia, Asia and Russia, with specific awards for beach resorts, sports resorts, spa resorts, business hotels, family resorts, honeymoon resorts, ski resorts, golf resorts and design hotels. Winners from each region are competing for the prestigious Golden Eye Award for best overall hotel, with the winner announced later this week.
For anyone thinking of booking flights to Orlando for next year, one highlight from the list included Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, which won the Best Family Resort Award for the American category. The luxury resort boasts Victorian-style architecture and is the flagship resort for the ever-popular Walt Disney World. Guests enjoy facilities such as a luxury health club and the choice of six different restaurants, some of which offer stunning views over the theme park itself.
Dubai gets a mention in the list, with the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers winning Best Design Hotel for the Arabian Eye category. This hotel boasts sharp interior design with luxury facilities, including a leisure deck on the 11th floor with an infinity pool and a wide range of bars, lounges and restaurants to enjoy.
In the European Eye category, Turkey wins a mention with the Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa winning the Best Sport Resort award. The sprawling complex in Antalya boasts 27 holes of challenging golf, as well as a huge variety of water sports and plenty of options for relaxing after a hard day on the course.
