In a bid to raise awareness for its new flights from Bradford airport, Monarch Airlines has signed a sponsorship deal with Leeds United. The airline is set to be the football team’s North Stand sponsor at its Elland Road ground.
Monarch announced its new winter routes this week, including flights to Grenoble and Munich departing from Leeds Bradford. 12 new routes will also be added next summer. The new flights will be advertised on both the internal and external fascias of the stand and the external fascia will directly overlook the M621 road.
Chief executive of Leeds United, Shaun Harvey, said that he was “delighted that Monarch will be working with the Club to support its new routes flying from Leeds Bradford Airport.” Harvey also said that the new partnership aims “to make Monarch the first choice carrier for European flights for Leeds United fans all across the UK," and that the club "will be working closely with Monarch to deliver some exciting promotional fares and competitions to our fan base over the coming months."
The managing director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George expressed equal delight and said that Monarch decided to team up with the club because it has a “unique position within Yorkshire and remains one of the biggest football clubs within the UK." George added that the airline is "impressed with the passion and commitment that the club demonstrates," and that " the scale and reach of the club's fan base speaks for itself and through this exciting new partnership we look forward to welcoming Leeds United fans on board our new routes from Leeds Bradford Airport."
