The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Orlando is set to get a brand new area for 2014. The theme park has announced it will be introducing a brand new section to the park that will replicate the book’s iconic Diagon Alley. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be expanded across both Universal Orlando theme parks, bringing even more magical fun to the park's guests. The new area will offer brand new experiences and adventures for fans of both the books and the films and aims to bring to life some to the scenes that happen in and around London in the Harry Potter stories.
"I'm so pleased that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proved so popular to date, and I'm sure that the attention to detail in creating the new Diagon Alley area will make this an even better experience," said J.K Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books.
The new Diagon Alley and “London” areas of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be located at the main Universal Studios Florida theme park, while the existing areas, that include Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, will remain at the theme park’s Islands of Adventure location, situated adjacent to the main park.
“We are thrilled to offer the legions of fans the opportunity to embark on this new journey and experience Diagon Alley as it was brought to life in the books and films,” said Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in June 2010, becoming the world’s first centrally themed, multi-park experience. The additional areas to the parks are scheduled to open in 2014.
