The sky above New York City is to be lit up by an explosive fireworks display this year to mark the Fourth of July. The display, part of Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks 2013, is the nation’s biggest display of the year and is set to be bigger than ever this Independence Day.
Each year Macy's puts on a fireworks display unrivalled by any other state and this year is going to be no different, with a happy face with a wink exploding over New York City said to be just part of what Macy’s has in store for New Yorkers and those enjoying New York holidays this year. Forty thousand firework shells have been reported being loaded onto four barges in the city’s Staten Island on Saturday, as part of NYC’s preparations for the big day.
It’s not just the fireworks that are out to impress though, as Grammy- award winning pop sensation Usher has reportedly created the soundtrack to run alongside the city’s electric display. The theme for this year’s show is “it begins with a spark” and show co-designer Gary Souza has said they have searched the world to find the most unique and original fireworks around.
On top of what is sure to be an incredible fireworks show the Empire State Building will also be illuminated with an epic LED light show choreographed to the grand finale of the fireworks. The show is set to start at 9:50 pm EST on Thursday and will be broadcast all around the world as well as across the nation.
