All over the world people are wrapping up the year the best way they know how - with one massive party! From London to Sydney and all that’s in between firework displays are being prepared for the most spectacular worldwide show of the year.
So whether you’re watching the fireworks from every city on the TV, or out in the crowds seeing them in person, we thought we would give you a sneak preview of the best fireworks across the world.
Starting off our list is London, a city that has its very own Catherine wheel in the form of the London Eye. Every year people visit London for New Year’s Eve and this year the fireworks promise to be better than ever with so much to celebrate including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic and Paralympic games.
Over in Australia they take pyrotechnics to another level when it comes to New Year’s Eve. Not only is there a great fireworks display but the Sydney Opera House is lit up in an array of vibrant colours to see the city into the new year.
Home to the famous Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop, New York City knows how to party the year out in style. On NYE the city counts down to midnight as the ball drops in Times Square and then watches a truly amazing fireworks show.
Fly to Hong Kong to celebrate both the Lunar New Year and the Chinese New Year, with neither of the celebrations going unnoticed. Last year saw a dragon appear in the sky so all bets are on for what crazy tricks will be pulled out of the bag this year!
Last on our list is Copenhagen, a city that could be mistaken for a toy town on New Year’s Eve as all the buildings are lit up in bright colours. The Tivoli Gardens fireworks are probably one of the prettiest displays to be seen and a perfect way to get the new year started.
