For the last three weeks Fashion Week has graced the streets of New York, London and Milan, and after a month of fashion and parties, the show has descended on Paris to go out with a bang. The final of the big four fashion weeks has attracted buyers, stylists and celebrities in their thousands, all eager to see what the birthplace of couture fashion has to offer.
Shows started this morning, with designers showcasing the latest autumn/winter looks, and will carry on through till next week. One of the most anticipated shows of the whole four weeks will take place tomorrow, with Alexander Wang showing his debut collection for Balenciaga.
Paris Fashion Week is renowned for its haute couture shows and some of the most outrageous designs of the season are expected to be seen on the runways in the next week. High street brand H&M will stage its first catwalk in eight years in Paris this week, although the show is not listed on the official schedule, and designer for the stars Anthony Vaccarello will showcase his autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection later on today.
Missing from the catwalks this winter is Alexander McQueen, due to creative director, Sarah Burton, being on maternity leave, but the label has said it is hosting an invite-only ‘intimate’ presentation instead. Other shows that are expected to draw in the masses include Raf Simons’ ready-to-wear collection for Dior and Hedi Slimane’s show for Saint Laurent. Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Isabel Marant will also be showing this week.
If you haven’t got time to head to Paris for this winter's installment of fashion, fear not, Paris Fashion Week, along with the other three big Fashion Weeks, will be back in Autumn, to showcase the new looks for spring/summer 2014!
