Emirates Airlines launched its newest route today, now flying non-stop from Dubai to Houari Boumediene Airport, Algiers.
The new service marks the airline's 130th destination milestone. Travellers to the Algerian capital will fly on Airbus A330-200 aircraft from Dubai and all flights will feature Emirates' standard three class configuration. Passengers will also be able to take advantage of the airline's award wining service and in-flight entertainment system and will be able to send and receive text message and emails on-board. Executive vice president of engineering and operations, Adel Al Redha, stated that “the launch of our operations in Algiers will provide a wealth of new travel options for customers in Algeria, who will be able to fly non-stop to our industry leading hub in Dubai and conveniently connect to points across the Middle East, the Asian Subcontinent, the Far East and Australasia."
“With the start of our daily non-stop service from Dubai, Emirates looks forward to introducing a whole new audience to Algeria, bringing leisure travellers from around the globe to experience this country’s unique attractions. We are confident that Algeria will be a popular destination for business and leisure travellers’ alike, boosting tourism and opening new markets for business and trade,” he added. The inaugural flight, that launched today, had a number of special guests including the Algerian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mr Hamid Chebira, managing director of Michelin, Prashant Prabhu and a number of senior staff members at Emirates. To the new route will offer travellers from Dubai flights to Algiers, the largest city in Algeria, and its many cultural sites including the Great Mosque and the National Library. Image sources: 12
