After recently adding a Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari FF to its fleet, Dubai Police have now added a rare Aston Martin One-77 to its growing list of supercars. The bespoke car, one of just 77 in the whole world, will be used for police duties in the gulf sate.If that wasn’t enough, Dubai Police will also be adding a Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG its impressive fleet of supercars. Local news site Emirates 24/7 confirmed that the £1,150,000 Aston Martin will join Dubai Police’s fleet yesterday and images of the new car were released later that day, taken at the Dubai Trade Centre.
However, the new One-77, which can reach a top speed of 220 mph, won’t be used to chase after bad guys-instead its main responsibility will be cruising through Dubai’s hotel-lined streets in a bid to increase tourism in selected areas.
Rumours have suggested that the new Aston Martin is not the only car to be added to Dubai’s “Bling Patrol”. Dubai Police’s fleet will also include a BMW 5-Series, a Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet Camaro SS, the latter of which has been confirmed by Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, chairman of Emirates Investment and Development Company.
"We are confident that the Camaro’s ability to respond rapidly, by virtue of its high performance V8 engine, coupled with its practical suitability for Dubai’s roads and ease of servicing, will make it an ideal patrol car for years to come,” said Al Ghandi, speaking about the addition of the American muscle car to Dubai Police’s fleet.
