bmi regional has been named the most punctual scheduled airline in the UK. The announcement comes just months after the airline marked its first anniversary as an independent airline.
Information gathered by FlightOnTime revealed that the airline, flying to Europe from the UK, was the most punctual in the UK during the first quarter of this year. The flight tracker website used unbiased data sources from the UK Civil Aviation Authority to name bmi regional the most punctual airline.
FlightOnTime based its findings on the percentage of flights landing within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time. 92 per cent of the airline’s 2,695 flights in the first quarter of this year touched downed within the 15 minute window, 5.7 per cent more than its nearest rival. Furthermore, the average delay encountered on bmi regional flights was just 4.5 minutes.
“On-time departures and arrivals are vital for both our business and leisure passengers and we’re determined to maintain our record as the UK’s most punctual scheduled airline, a plaudit we’ve retained for eight consecutive years, as we continue to expand,” said Cathal O’Connell, the airline’s chief executive officer.
“It’s testimony to the dedication and team work of the entire BMI Regional staff and the efforts of our airport partners that we continue to provide unrivalled punctuality.”
Bmi regional’s 18-strong fleet is set to operate 450 flights each week during the summer. The airline will fly to 23 destinations including serving new routes from Birmingham to Gothenburg, Lyon and Toulouse and from Bristol to Hamburg, Hannover, Milan and Munich.
