Berlin is putting up its final runways as preparations for Berlin Fashion Week come to an end. From 15th January the five day show will take place all over the city, bringing fashion and culture from around the world to the streets of Berlin.
Twice a year the city hosts Berlin Fashion Week, a quickly growing international event destined to one day rival the bigger fashion weeks in Milan, Paris, New York and London. Fashion buyers, enthusiasts, experts, designers and media fly to Berlin to see what new trends are being set. This year is set to be Berlin's biggest fashion week to date and huge steps have been taken to make sure that all runs smoothly between the 15th to 20th of January.
A big emphasis on ‘green fashion’ will be seen this season and a range of eco shows including Greenshowroom, Showfloor Berlin and the Ethical Fashion Show are aiming to highlight the importance of ecological and ethical design. Garments exhibited in these shows will display the use of renewable ecological material and will be sourced using fair trade practices.
Other events during the week will include the renowned Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin shows and the international trade fair - Bread and Butter - at the former Templehof Airport. Outside of the main fashion events the city will play host to some of the most glamorous parties of the year, with fashion gurus and media moguls hosting and attending high profile events every day of the week.
New shows are also set to debut at Berlin Fashion Week, with the fashion show and trade fair, Panorama, premiering at the new Expo Centre Airport Berlin-Schönefeld.
