Russian airline Aeroflot has been named Europe’s most stylish airline by Skyscanner. To coincide with the start of Fashion Week, Skyscanner polled over 1,200 travellers asking them which airline they thought was the most stylish.
Although the Russian airline was voted the most stylish, the country itself was voted one of the least stylish destinations, in a separate poll by the travel research site. It seems the airlines red uniforms are what put them on top, with the uniforms coming out as more stylish than British Airways’ signature red, white and blue outfits, which came in second.
Lufthansa airlines was voted third most stylish, with its blue suits and yellow scarves, Air France came in fourth, with its traditional French chic uniforms and Finnair came in fifth, with its crew donning navy blue and white attire. Surprisingly, British budget airline Flybe came in sixth, possibly due to its recent promotional campaigns with TV presenter and actress Kelly Brook.
Speaking about Aeroflot being voted most stylish airline, Skyscanner’s Russia manager, Tatiana Danilova, said that the “Russian cabin crew are well-known for being very glamorous, and it is a well-respected and much sought after profession. It’s reassuring to see that after failing to be recognised for our general fashion sense, our Russian cabin crew are flying the flag and showing that Russians are extremely style savvy!”
Aeroflot celebrated its 90th birthday last month, making it one of the world’s oldest aviation companies. Today, the airline controls more than 45 per cent of Russia’s regular international transport market and aims to carry 10 million passengers by 2015.
