18-hole golf course in Montenegro set to boost tourism

Boka Group has unveiled its plans to build the first ever 18-hole championship golf course in Montenegro. The golf course is to be built with 100 per cent British capital and will be available to visitors on the Dalmatian Coast by spring 2016.

The new championship golf course is set to boost tourism in Montenegro even further, with more people flocking to the country for sports tourism. At current Montenegro has the fastest growing tourism economy in the world, growing at more than double the world’s average growth rate at 9.4 per cent per year.

The Montenegro government has outlined plans to develop elite tourism in the country and the golf course is to become the newest attraction to Porto Montenegro, a mega-yacht marina located next to Boka’s Sea Breeze development which comprises of 50 luxury homes.

“Montenegro's first ever golf course will enhance the development of tourism in the country,” said John Kennedy, Boka Group’s founder. “From a commercial point of view it will also strengthen the golden triangle of top end developments between Porto Montenegro, Kotor and Budva in a zone that contains some of Montenegro's and the Adriatic's most elite facilities. This premier region has been crying out for a golf course and adding this facility will significantly extend the tourist season in this part of the Adriatic."

The golf course will feature a club house, golf academy, driving range and training facilities. The main feature of the 18-hole course will be the breathtaking mountain and sea views that will be visable from every hole. The plans, unveiled this week, also revealed that the new course will have a classic British theme throughout.
